The Creators Of Atelier 79

Second generation fine jewelry entrepreneur, our passion for jewelry goes back to visiting our father’s atelier and participating with very bubbly critical eyes to his jewelry creations. Atelier79 draws its inspiration from all the strong women who have raised and continue raising us into passionate and caring women, striving to positively impact their communities.

Why Atelier 79 You Might Ask?

Atelier79 is deeply anchored in its dual french and armenian identity. We wanted the brand name to evoke both the french aesthete and delicatesse while not losing sight of the armenian rooted know-how and history. Indeed, when looking at the armenian alphabet, developed in 405 AC by linguist Mashtots, you’ll find a lot of hidden secrets. Amongst them appears a unique algorithm between the armenian names of chemical elements and serial numbers of the Mendeleev periodic table.

For gold or “ոսկի” [voski] in Armenian, the letters of this word in the numeric system of the Armenian alphabet correspond to: Ո (vo) – 24, Ս (s) – 29, Կ (k) – 19, Ի (i) – 11. Adding these numbers, we get the number 79, which is the serial number of the gold in the periodic table of Mendeleev.

Mind-blowing isn’t it? And the verification fits all precious metals of the table, which comes to show that the armenian alphabet is more than just a writing system.

Tatev Petrossian

Following years of working in the field of Investment and strategy consulting, Tatev took a big leap of faith in 2021 and started Atelier79 with her sister. After living and working in 4 different countries, she always witnessed the constant appeal that the French aesthete had on people she will meet throughout her journeys. Therefore, inspired by all those encounters and the rich history and craftsmanship heritage of her birthplace Armenia, she decided to found Atelier79.

This new entrepreneurial path, merged organically her combined years of experience in strategy and design thinking to the world of fine jewelry design. Driven by her passion for fine jewelry from witnessing her father’s work since childhood, and her purpose to set a new bar for what french-armenian fusion can stand for, she’s leading Atelier79 as the head designer of both the brand’s collections and the bespoke co-design studio service.
