The Founders of Atelier79

As second-generation jewelry entrepreneurs, our passion was shaped in our father’s atelier, where we observed, questioned, and admired every creation with keen, curious eyes. Growing up surrounded by precious metals and gemstones, we learned that fine jewelry is more than an art—it’s a legacy.

Atelier79 is inspired by the strong women who have raised us and continue to shape us—women who are passionate, nurturing, and determined to leave a meaningful impact on the world.

Why Atelier79?

Atelier79 is deeply rooted in its dual French and Armenian identity. We wanted a name that reflects both the refinement and elegance of French artistry while honoring the heritage and craftsmanship of Armenian tradition.

The number 79 holds a deeper meaning. The Armenian alphabet, developed in 405 AD by linguist Mesrop Mashtots, holds many hidden secrets—one of them being a unique algorithm linking the Armenian names of chemical elements to their atomic numbers in the Mendeleev periodic table.

For gold—”ոսկի” [voski] in Armenian—the letters correspond to numerical values: Ո (vo) – 24, Ս (s) – 29, Կ (k) – 19, Ի (i) – 11. When added together, you get 79, the atomic number of gold (Aurum).

A coincidence? Certainly not. This perfect harmony between tradition and innovation, science and heritage, is the very essence of Atelier79—where every creation carries meaning beyond beauty.

Tatev Petrossian

Some journeys are written in the stars; others are forged with fire. For Tatev, Atelier79 is both.

After years in investment and strategy consulting, she took a bold leap in 2021—leaving behind the corporate world to create something deeply personal. Having lived and worked across four countries, she was always struck by the universal admiration for French artistry. But it was her Armenian roots—steeped in rich jewelry-making traditions—that called her back to create something truly meaningful.

Atelier79 is the fusion of these worlds. With a designer’s vision and a strategist’s precision, Tatev leads the brand’s creative direction, shaping each collection and bespoke creation with a singular mission: to create jewelry that empowers. For her, fine jewelry is not just an adornment—it is a statement, a legacy, a reminder that every woman has the power to shape her own path. Atelier79 is an invitation—to wear, to own, and to step fully into the story only you can tell.
